The Young Thinkers' Society
Think. Discuss. Discover. The Young Thinkers' Society a group of bright, curious, and unsupervised high schoolers with a mission "to promote the lifelong intellectual development of young individuals" (including ourselves) and a vision "to create an intellectual community of young individuals in which ideas are openly shared and discussed." The Young Thinkers' Society aims to enrich modern society and to answer the questions of society and the universe.
Though we plan to expand nationwide someday, the Young Thinkers' Society is currently only active in the Contra Costa County in the East Bay (California), in several high schools and one Salon in Walnut Creek.

What we mean to you
If you are a high schooler: We basically have three activities: (1) some members attend a Sunday Salon in Walnut Creek; (2) some members are parts of YTS chapters in their high schools; and (3) some members are part of our publication, the Young Thinkers' Magazine. We're also looking for people to help out with our online capacities (for example, with an integrated Facebook app). We're rich with opportunity! Please contact the Chair for more information on how you can get involved.
If you are an adult: Know that the future of our generation is bright. Because we strongly believe that the teenage years are a unique opportunity for free thought, we like to avoid any sort of adult supervision (although we welcome advice and help). Our Salons are open to the public (i.e. adults) the first Sunday of each even-numbered month. You can also support us by donating, though we don't yet have official nonprofit status.
This site
We're planning to revamp this site sometime (maybe when the Chair is in college), but please find out more about us by selecting the different options to the left. If you're a high schooler, here are your options: we would love to have you start a club at your school, or perhaps you can join the Salon. (Read our "About" section; there are three parts to it.) Another thing we do is the Young Thinkers' Magazine, which is always looking for submissions. Whatever the case, we'd love to hear from you: e-mail the Chair, Seanan Fong, at seanan@theyoungthinkers.org for more information.
